Opening in the wake of April’s Pink Full Moon, Comida y Arte is an art + culinary experience designed to feed the senses. Works of art created by AFTA supporting artists complimenting the theme of Comida y Arte will be on display and for sale. Chef Sandra Cordero’s culinary delights will feature Cordero Negro sweets for the opening reception and a three course Spanish-themed meal centered on two types of paella during the restaurant pop-up. A portion of the proceeds from Comida y Arte will support ART from the ashes 2013 Programming.

In September 2011, the most destructive in Texas history raged through Bastrop County, TX. The Bastrop County Complex Fire destroyed 1,667 homes, destroyed 33,033 acres and claimed two lives. Known as the Lost Pines Region, this blaze devastated the population of its signature Loblolly pine and further compromised the habitat of the endangered Houston Toad.

On March 11th one of the worst earthquakes in history struck northeastern Japan and triggered a series of tragic events. The number of people killed and still missing is unconscionable. The level of destruction will take billions of dollars and many years to rebuild. The need for support and resource remains immense as communities strive to recover from this disaster.
